We’re an active community member in the neighborhoods that we build in. Not only do we build homes here but we like to give back to them and the city that we are a part of. Each year we sponsor school field days, little league teams, contribute to local charities, the SPCA, the Houston Food Bank, and a growing list of causes we support. We intend to continue this local commitment to new neighborhoods as we expand over the coming years because we don’t just believe in building homes for people to live in; we believe in building the communities that support those homes as well.
Think Global, Act Local
Neighborhood Commitment
Thinking about the Planet
For every home that we build, we plant 100 trees through our partnership with one tree planted in various locations, all over the world. This partnership has grown 10x over the years and Mazzarino has been directly responsible for planting over 5000 trees in regions across the globe where they’re needed most. We are hoping that by 2030, our commitment will have resulted in over 100,000 trees planted. The idea for this commitment came out of an incident where we had to remove a tree that was leaning heavily to protect a home. We were discouraged that this lovely tree had to come down so we thought why don’t we do something to not only preserve more trees; but plant more trees. So our planting program was born.
Commitment to reuse and recycling of construction materials. A big part of our business is readapting and redeveloping properties that are far beynod their useful life. Some of these properties are barely standing, some simply have floorplans that don’t work for a modern homebuyer. In these instances we donate leftover or recyclable building materials to groups like habitat for humanity and other local groups that repurpose vintage building materials. When there is nothing left to salvage inside; we seek out partners to donate the entire structure to who can often put them to a variety of uses. We know that no one likes when we tear something down, we get it, but not only are we building something new and beautiful for a family to move into; we are using every bit of each structure we are acquiring, and tearing down is always the last resort.
